Benefits of Software as A Service

SaaS stands for delivering Software as a Service. It allows you to access data and utilize software by using nothing more than a web browser. There are many benefits of Software as a Service (SaaS) if you compare this approach with the more conventional way of using software. For example your customers no longer use an e-mail client but use a service like Gmail.com instead.

Your users do not need to install, configure or update anything. All that they need to do is going to your website, login and start using the always latest and greatest version of your software online.

What is in it for me?

With a Software as a Service (Saas) approach you do not need to worry about maintaining and supporting each version of your software. You will just take care of delivering the services that you want to offer supported by the latest version of your online software.

While software typically is sold only once things are different if you consider your software to be a service. Recurring revenues are a common aspect of SaaS solutions. Users pay for your service on a monthly or annual base.

In addition offering services, supported by your online presence, creates an new and interesting perspective and sets the focus to the service as a whole. This is perfect if want to create an Unique Selling Point (USP) and want to establish Unfair Advantage. Anyone can copy a software solution, but cloning a service is way harder. In the end that is what keeps you in business.

Platforms and infrastructures

We use Azure and Back4App for reliable delivery and flexible hosting of the SaaS solutions, that we create for customers.

Azure delivers Platform as a Service (Paas) and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solutions, which is a perfect to host your SaaS solution on top of it. Azure makes it very convenient to maintain your sites and databases and to take care of all kind of things such as file storage, running scripts and so on.

Back4App delivers a Backend as a Service (BaaS) solution and is a good fit as well, for mobile back-end solutions in particular, but also for web based SaaS solutions.

Scalability & reliability

Both Azure and Back4App are very flexible, reliable and scalable solutions. They allow you to focus on the core of your SaaS solution only.

Does your number of customer grow over time? A few clicks are enough to scale up in order to support that. Is the nature of your solution that I will show peak moments at a particular time of the day? Auto-scaling options are there to make that a smooth experience too. A SLA percentage of at least 99.5% eliminates any down time period. and up guarantees that your online solution is 24/7 available.

Is it secure?

The data that your customers provide to your SaaS solution is for their eyes only and must not be accessible for anyone else, despite the fact that it lives in the cloud.

Using Azure (combined with ASP.NET) and Back4App we can safely tell that data will be securely stored. The SaaS implementation, as can be found in the PerfectSaaS solution for example, ensures that unauthorized access will be impossible.

The market size of SaaS

At the start of 2019 the total market size for SaaS was about 64 billion euro. Software as a Service (SaaS) is rapidly growing and becoming common for more a more purposes, such as: CRM and CMS systems, e-learing, logistics, market places, marketing tools, project management, professional communication and support. Some well known examples are: Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack and Docusign.

With the all possibilities in reach for developing your niche specific (vertical) SaaS or more generic (horizontal) SaaS implementation today there are no more reasons, that we can think of, why you should not have your own too.
